This Shelby Cobra Mustang Blue Neon Clock features the highly recognizable Shelby Cobra icon rearing its head in a strike pose, fangs bared, ready to pounce. 'Shelby' is printed across the cobra in the center of the clock's face, set in a blue box with white font. The neon light on this clock is blue with a chrome plated art deco styled bezel. Carroll Shelby, a professional racecar driver and winner of the 24 Hours of LeMans had a dream of building sports cars under his own name long before he began racing professionally. He got his inspiration in 1961 when he learned that AC Cars from England would be stopping production of their AC Ace model because the Bristol six cylinder engines they used in the Ace would not be available anymore. Shelby realized that the British roadster could be a perfect match for a powerful American V8 engine, so he contacted AC Cars and they sent him 2 engine-less AC Ace bodies to his shop in California. Shelby and a small team of mechanics (with a little help from Ford Motor Company) introduced the first Shelby Cobra in 1962.The combination of lightweight body, small dimensions and the extremely powerful American V8 engine proved to be revolutionary and the car did extremely well in competition all around the world.

Ford Motor company was launched from a converted wagon factory in 1903, with $28,000 cash from twelve investors. These investors included John and Horace Dodge, future founders of the Dodge car manufacturer. During its early years, the company produced just a few cars a day at its factory on Mack Avenue in Detroit. Groups of two or three men worked on each car from components made to order by other companies.
