Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is a 1953 American musical comedy film based on the 1949 stage musical of the same name. The film starred Marily Monroe and Jane Russell, with Charles Coburn, Elliott Reid, Tommy Noonan, George Winslow, Taylor Holmes and Norma Varden in supporting roles. Gentlemen Prefer Blondes is filled with comedic gags and musical numbers. The fabled 'Gold Dress' was created out of a single complete circle of gold lame and sunburst pleated. Every pleat lines up with the back seam and there is an iron V build in the centre of the dress from the waist to the bust – creating the moulding effect. The scene is which Marilyn wears this dress was nearly cut by the censors. She was due to wear this incredibly plunging gold gown, while dancing provocatively with old boy “Lord Beekman” singing a song entitled “Down Boy”! Having been cut, we only see this halter-neck gown from the back, which was also rather risque' for that time. Marilyn had to be sewn into it. In fact it wasn’t even finished. Marily actually loved the dress so much she wore to the 1953 Photoplay Awards without an underslip, causing a total sensation, with Joan Crawford stating 'She looks vulgar!'

Marilyn Monroe was born Norma Jeane Mortenson on June 1, 1926. She was later given her mother’s name, and baptized Norma Jeane Baker. On August 5, 1962, she died of an overdose. During her all-too-brief life, she overcame a difficultchildhood to become one of the world's biggest and most enduring sex symbols.

Metal signs were traditionally used by brand companies as a high-quality and durable advertising medium, as they embody longevity and quality, and transfer these values perfectly to the advertised product. These days, metal signs are considered a popular retro-item, with their old-school themes and rusty distressed appearances, offering the ideal opportunity for stylish decoration with a retro and vintage inspired look.
